Road Safety

The issue of road safety on Lightmoor Way has been a concern for residents for some time.

BVT officers have been working closely with the local policing team, Telford & Wrekin Council and Lightmoor Village Primary School regarding road safety around the Village, particularly along Lightmoor Way in front of the school.

We have been looking into the possibility of installing a School Crossing Patrol (old fashioned lollipop person) to assist children with crossing the road at the designated crossing, which is the raised table in front of the main entrance.

Traffic surveys have taken place at times when the road is busiest from 8:30am-9:00am and 3:00pm-3:15pm, to assess the need for the patrol.

The results suggest that the majority of residents and children are not using the raised table as they should.

From discussions with residents it would seem that the majority would support the introduction of the school crossing patrol.

Lightmoor Primary School have also done an independent survey using parents email, asking if a crossing patrol would be used and beneficial.  The results taken from 68 replies show 67 would like this service and 1 would not.

Funding for the crossing patrol will be discussed at the next meeting and we will keep residents updated as we progress.
